In the second to last chapter the author made it sound like Rain had died. Totally screwed with my emotions because I HATE when books end like that. I almost didn't read the last chapter I was so upset and if I hadn't I would have put this author on my "no read" list. Which is upsetting in itself because I really did like the book. I understand why the author would portray the situation as that way in lieu of setup, but it still really messed with me and I don't think I recommend this book to any "happy end-ers" (like me) without a warning first...

I just finished "Following Rain," It is a wonderful love story that has some surprising twists in the second half. The author writes with an easy style but one that keeps you going. The characters were both believable and likable. The point of view switched frequently but not so often that it was hard to follow. As I was reading, I was wishing that it wasn't a fictional story! Not what I thought I had bought

I think overall this book was a let down for me, I wanted so learn some basic things about running a food related business, instead the information contained is not well explained for someone w/o a business background. I thought it would offer practical advice, but I found most of the informartion I had already read about somewhere else, and the real important stuff comes in little bits.

The�Star-Eater�world....In ancient days before humans spread their populace to the stars, a company that got too big for its britches would find the Government gently reining it in or roughly shackling it down. And when a company got too big for Government oversight, usually its own weight would cause an implosion; the force of natural expansion and demise.�When a company gets bigger than its Government, then you have a problem on your hands. The MacCollie Company got bigger than that: they ruled travel to the stars. The development of the L-Space drive--the first practical FTL drive--created a monopoly that allowed access to the stars only to those the MacCollie company felt they could trust.At first, they trusted only the Government--the Fellowship of Humanity. Slowly, carefully, cautiously, they expanded access to a few independent businesses, and the race to colonize other worlds took shape.That put Earth's problems in a new light. When you're orbiting Aldebaran three checking for possibilities of Terra-forming, a flood in Bangladesh seems a long, long way away.Of course, even with the L-Space drive, interstellar space travel was in its infancy. It took twelve years to reach Earth's nearest neighbor, Alpha Centauri. With the advances in drive technology, it took only took four years to reach Lushman 16. It took a mere six months to orbit the planets of Epsilon Eridani.�Yeah, we humans are good that way; give us a problem, and we'll work it out.�But let's get distances into perspective... Our galaxy is 200,000 light years in diameter. Flying at Light Speed (LS), to get to the nearest edge would still take us 87,000 years.�Then Hector Faber (a MacCollie scientist, of course) discovered and developed the H-20 Drive; capable of faster than light speed by quite a bit. As usual, Earth politicians took two years to decide what to call it; the 'H-2O Drive', the Faber Drive, but the pilots were way ahead of them. The invention was Faber's, the process was simply called FTL-VII (Faster Than Light, Version II). Yeah, it didn't make a dent in those Galactic-Edge distances, but it sure sped up travel in the Fellowship Worlds. Thanks to MacCollie, planets were colonized tout suite!�When MacCollie Scout Benjamin Steele discovered "jump holes", it was the time to head into the unknown en mass. Basically rips in time and space which, like a star, seemed to exhibit long stable periods, they transported FTL material across huge distances in an instant.�MacCollie jumped at the opportunity like only they could. In a year they manufactured 1000 Survey-Scouts, recruited 1000 pilots, and fired them to every corner of the Milky Way.�Enter our hero... Seth Gingko.

superb sci-fi

This series is imaginative and exciting. Mix a bit of Andromeda Ascendant with a lot more snark, a Malcolm Reynolds- type captain, aliens, hardcore sci-fi, and bad luck and you have an idea about the series.

About the Author
Heinrich Kramer ( 1430-1505) also known under the Latinized name Henricus Institoris,was a German churchman and inquisitor. Born in S�lestat, Alsace, he joined the Dominican Order at an early age and while still a young man was appointed Prior of the Dominican house of his native town. At some date before 1474 he was appointed Inquisitor for the Tyrol, Salzburg, Bohemia and Moravia. His eloquence in the pulpit and tireless activity received recognition at Rome and he was the right-hand man of the Archbishop of Salzburg. By the time of the Bull Summis desiderantes of Pope Innocent VIII in 1484 he was already associated with Jacob Sprenger to make an inquisition for witches and sorcerers. In 1485 he drew up a treatise on witchcraft which was incorporated in the Malleus Maleficarum (literally "The hammer of malefactresses (wrongdoing women - i.e. witches)"). Kramer failed in his attempt to obtain endorsement for this work from the top theologians of the Inquisition at the Faculty of Cologne, and they condemned the book as recommending unethical and illegal procedures, as well as being inconsistent with Catholic doctrines of demonology. Kramer's claimed endorsement from four of the professors may have been forged. He was denounced by the Inquisition in 1490. In 1495 he was summoned to Venice to give public lectures, which were very popular. In 1500 he was empowered to proceed against the Waldensians and Picards. He died in Bohemia in 1505.

the best deal out there..

but that's because it was never proofread. Not even spell-checked. That, or they just stuck it some badly written computer program that did the translating for them. Buy this if you want the MM at a good price, but expect to be annoyed by the fact that there is a typo or bad punctuation in every other paragraph.

History in your Hands

I have always heard of this book in all my research on Witchcraft and in other books on the Paranormal and didn't even know it existed in a reprint form until I was on Amazon looking at other books and it popped up as a recomendation!
It is fascinating to read, and to realize it is the Bible for all witch hunters during the Salem Witch Trials and the Inquisition.

Deceptive translation

This translation is a sensationalised caricature of the Latin text, providing more insight about 'Rev.' Summers than the late mediaeval church. Those who are interested in making an informed opinion should rather read The Hammer of Witches: A Complete Translation of the Malleus Maleficarum
