Great book for renal module

This book is all you will need for renal pathophys your 1st and 2nd years. It is small and doesn't look like much, but is extremely well written. THis is all I used for my 2nd year renal module (with a little robbins on the side), and I nailed the exam. I recommend for any med student.

Very helpful for my med school renal block!

This was readable over the 4-week renal block. It made a huge difference in learning physiology, which was covered during the first two weeks and apparently confused a good deal of my class. I didn't go to class and instead learned almost all the physiology from this book, and I did well above average.

Mostly incomprehensible - not worth the pain

I found the writing in this book to be nearly incomprehensible. It lacked any examples that grounded the very abstract philosophical language. What I could understand seemed to be largely polemics attacking other approaches of all kinds. I am a fan of neo-cybernetics and postmodern philosophy, so generally am willing to plow through fairly opaque writing. I gave up on this book after about 75 pages of pure, unsatisfying pain.

Let's Regain Our Liberty by Holding All Public Servants Accountable to Their Oaths to Our Constitution !

WOW ! I had no clue.

Most of us now think the only way to hold our public servants accountable to their oaths of office to support and defend our Constitutions is to use the ballot box, yet our Constitution is a contract , so why don't we simply enforce our contract with our public servants ? Is our government overreach really by nature a political problem or instead fundamentally a lack of contract enforcement ? Jason Hoyt, the author, does a remarkable job digging into and explaining how the Founders designed the system of government they gave us so we can indeed hold our public servants accountable everyday to their oaths of office and The Rule of Law. It is very exciting to learn about how We the People can regain our Liberty by simply using the tools our Founders gave us to eliminate the overreach that our dysfunctional County, State, and Federal governments unconstitutionally waste our money on everyday. Unbelievably well-written and researched, this book is LONG overdue! If you question the assumed, illegitimate power that Big Government exercises over you, you MUST get this book. If you are concerned about the proper role of government, GET THIS BOOK!

I've grown discouraged at what I see as an inability to reign in an out-of-control government. Like many conscientious voters today, I saw no way to hold our leaders accountable other than by waiting many years until the next election and hoping the electorate's memory would hold long enough to vote-out corruption and fraud. But after reading this book, I now have hope. There is another way to enforce accountability in our government.

This is not just some man's opinion on what's wrong with society today. This is an eye-opening, revolutionary view at tools we have at our disposal (that the government doesn't want us to use) and the author does it in a humble, professional manner that will leave his critics grasping at straws.

But don't take my word for it. I challenge you to get it and read it. You be the judge!

He has filled this book with nuggets of information that our Founding Fathers have written into the Constitution, that WE THE PEOPLE have either forgotten or were never taught in school. WE THE PEOPLE need to take this information and start holding our elected officials accountable to the Constitution.

Good for a medical student or lower level resident

This is a high-quality collection of otolaryngology vignettes & case presentations. I recommend this book as a good read to a medical student who is beginning rotations on the otolaryngology service or a lower level resident. This is fairly basic information, but gives a good "big picture" overview of several common clinical entities in otolaryngology.

Ah'd purely love to see it angry.

Richard Hooker's M*A*S*H is quite a diverse book. It is part dramatic documentary on Korean War combat surgery and the remarkable achievements of the surgeons in spite of their lack of field training, the indequate medical facilities with which they had to work, and the sub-human conditions under which they had to perform miracles.
It is also an extremely broad farce. The human sacrifice of Shakin' Sammy and the Jesus Christ personal appearance tour (actually a beer-swilling, half-naked, bearded Trapper John lashed to a crucifix) are a couple of examples of the exaggerated comic stylings.
This interspersing of drama and comedy makes this an interesting if somewhat unsual read and also makes it a perfect subject for dramatization. When it is in comedy zone, it is way out there. When it is in drama zone, it is quite serious. According to Hooker's forward, the surgeons in a MASH were exposed to many extremes. With his writing style, Hooker has exposed us to extremes as well.
It is one of my favorite books and I highly recommend it to fans of either the movie or the TV series. The film captures more of the book's bawdy, ribald spirit. The TV show captures more of the sentiment.
I also recommend "MASH: An Army Surgeon In Korea" by Otto F. Apel if you want the real story of what life in a MASH was. If you are a fan of the film/book/series and think you have an understanding of how rough it was back then, read this. It was a lot worse. An excellent read.
Add both of these books to your collection and then thank your lucky stars this isn't 1951 and you are draft eligible.

The Finest Kind

Like the characters within the covers, Richard Hooker's "MASH", is not so much a work of art, but a piece of work and as dear Hawkeye is so fond of saying,"the finest kind". This book proves the theory that "the book is better than the movie", despite the fact that both the film and tv show were, perhaps, the best in their respective mediums. Put away your images from both and let Mr.Hooker take you to Korea. His prose is not the mystical, lyrical verse of some writers, but it is indeed a story, told masterfully. The characters are full of life, with enough kick to jump start your car, yet their wit is dry as the Sahara, just like the martinis served by the main characters, and prefered by the author himself. An easy read, if not an enjoyable one, that will make you laugh out loud and then, with a simple sentence, fill your mind's eye with the violence and destruction of war on the often forgotten participants. You will never regret the time spent reading this novel, nor will youever forget what it is about.

its great, and funny to read, you just cant let it go as you must find out what hawkeye next trick will be. and its interesting as for any trick that is done there are consequences and characters in book, as well as reader learns some valuable life lessons, and as reader you get a view on how stupid the war is and why it is stupid.
