About the Author

Dr. Pradip Chanda, has more than 34 years of experience as a power plant professional in various capacities at the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), India. Starting his career as a commissioning engineer of 200 MW and 500 MW thermal sets, has given him exposure to the intricacies of behaviour of equipment and subsystems of thermal power plants. Working as a shift-charge engineer in a 1600 MW super thermal power station and heading the efficiency department of a thermal power station for more than nine years has enriched him with knowledge on operation and maintenance practices, different standards of efficiency and testing procedures. The journey carried him through corporate planning of NTPC for 5 years along with a rich 7 years’ experience in the training and development wing of NTPC as a senior faculty member. Currently he is serving as General Manager (HR) at an NTPC power station. Dr Chanda graduated as an Electrical Engineer from the erstwhile Bengal Engineering College. He received his M.Tech and PhD degrees from IIT Delhi. He has published a number of research papers in various journals and conferences. His areas of research interest include mathematical modelling of physical systems, heat transfer and control system. �

Suparna Mukhopadhyay, M.Tech, Ph.D, is a mechanical Engineer from NIT Agartala with her graduate degrees from Jadavpur University. She has a unique combination of industrial and research/teaching experience of more than 20 years. Presently, she is serving at the National Thermal Power Corporation as a senior manager. Prior to that she was a visiting scientist in the Engineering Mechanics Unit, JN Centre for Advanced Scientific research, Bangalore and Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering in Kalyani Government Engineering College, Kalyani, West Bengal for a combined period of more than 15 years. Dr. Mukhopadhyay has already published a textbook on fluid mechanics and a large number of research publications.�

About the Author

Karen Katz has written and illustrated many books for children, including The Colors of Us, Can You Say Peace?, My First Kwanzaa, Counting Kisses, and Where Is Baby's Belly Button? Long inspired by folk art from around the world, she wrote her first book, Over the Moon, when she and her husband adopted their daughter from Guatemala, and she wanted to tell the story of welcoming Lena into their lives. Katz loves to paint and experiment with texture, color, collage and pattern. Besides an author and illustrator, she has been a costume designer, quilt maker, fabric artist and graphic designer. Beautiful and Accurate Book

I was so psyched when I found out that one of my kid's favorite authors had done a book on Ramadan. (Thank you Karen Katz!) I was even more excited when I received the book. The illustrations are wonderful and whimsical. Ms. Katz has done an excellent job portraying life for a typical Muslim child. I especially enjoyed how she represented how multicultural a typical mosque in the US is. That's one of the wonderful things about being Muslim in the US--you are reminded every day that Muslims are not just of Arab origin. :) I know this will become a family favorite. Too bad it isn't on sturdy board stock like our other favorite Katz books. :)

Great for little kids

My son received this book as a gift during Ramadan, when he was only 2 years old. He'd been watching his parents fast, so it was a great way to explain what was happening, and to relate with our family. He loved it so much and it helped him understand in better detail what we were doing. I liked it so much I bought a copy for his two cousins, one 3 years old and one 7 years old. They liked it enough to take it to school with them - and it helped their friends understand what Ramadan was all about.

My son particularly liked the part about eating dates, eating while sitting on the floor, and praying in the mosque.

Perfectly written!

My sister gave this to me when I was pregnant with my first child. We would periodically read it to him during Ramadan and liked the book. Recently however he has begun to request it at both nap time and bed time. Not only has it helped him to recognize different terms like mosque and pray, he loves the fact that the family has a little boy and a little girl (I am pregnant with #2, who just happens to e a girl). He ADORES this book and I could not recommend it enough!!!

My other favorite thing is that the book uses the typical terms used within the religion AND includes pronunciations. This is so helpful for those who would like to read the book who are new to the religion of Islam or are reading to broaden their knowledge of religions and are not familiar with the Arabic terms (i.e. suhoor, Eid Mubarak, etc). Good job Karen Katz!

About the Author
Jon Stenerson is the author of several books on PLCs and industrial automation. He taught in the Automated Manufacturing Systems Technology program at Fox Valley Technical College. There he taught regular program students and students from industry. He has also taught and consulted in business and industry.

David Deeg has worked in a variety of industrial settings.� David worked as a Controls Designer and Field Service Technician for Trident Automation.� During his time with Trident he traveled thecountry working on ethanol plant distributed control systems (DCS), boiler house user interfaces and controls, corn grain handling systems, and iron ore ships on the GreatLakes. After working for Trident Automation, David worked at Neenah Foundry.� Neenah Foundry makes themajority of man-hole covers, iron grates surrounding trees on urbansidewalks.� In addition to the municipal castings, Neenah produces many of the power transmission housings found inlarge tractor trailer semis on the road today.While at Neenah Foundry David implemented new control techniques not previously used there.� David developed control and operator information systems that made it easier for operators and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and adapt to changing production needs.After working on almost every major automation system at Neenah, David took ateaching position in the Automated Manufacturing Systems (AMS) program at FoxValley Technical College. David enjoys the challenging work industrial controlsand programming provides.� As aninstructor he gets to share his industrial experience in preparing students with the tools they will need to be successful.

Excelent book to understand this technology

Is an excellent book, a very good reading to who is starting with Siemens PLC technology and also to who already know it. I purchased also the other book of some authors, with the Orange cover: Siemens Step 7 (TIA Portal) Programming Practical Approach (https://www.amazon.com/Siemens-Portal-Programming-Practical-Approach/dp/1515220540/ref=pd_cp_14_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=WSDHZH7N8K92YZYDWW6Q) and didn't see any difference between both, they are the same book with the same amount of pages and the same chapters starting at the ame page, the difference is that one is a little bit more expensive than the other.

I have two concerns about both books:

1) the lack of a remissive index at the end of the book should help to find similar items through the book.

2) at the end of each chapter you will find a quiz about the specific chapter. At the end of the book, you will find all the answers of those quizzes but only for the even questions, the odd ones aren't present. Strange isn't.

But despite those two comments I recumbent the book.
